On June 10th, 2004, Club Onyx opened in the Galleria section of Houston to cater to urban businessmen, lawyers, doctors and professional athletes. It was newly remodeled in the 12,800 square foot site after the company's management decided to take its highly successful upscale gentlemen's format into one of the fastest growing but underserved demographic segments - the universe of highly successful and increasingly affluent urban males.

Just weeks after opening Club Onyx was attracting an A-list clientele of gentlemen from every sport and every profession. We have held gala events including visits by hip-hop and r & b artists, professional football and basketball players and celebrity feature dancers such as Tasty (of 50 Cent & Tony Yayo videos and King & XXL magazine fame).

Club Onyx has attracted professional athletes by the dozens since we opened," according to Eric Langan, President and CEO of Rick's. "They like being in an environment where the other customers give them plenty of space and don’t hassle them for autographs."
